Eyes as big as plates.

sad and useless called it: old people wearing vegetation.
I call it fantastic stuff.

Gerard

>> According to a quick (and aggravating) Google search, female sexuality has been likened to numerous things, including a slow combustion stove, a labyrinth, pre-iPhone mobile phones, fire (which takes no less than three elements to ignite), tropical weather, the flight control panel of a 747 airliner, and, most charmingly, the difficult act of holding a beach ball under water.

Here’s a thought: Maybe understanding female desire isn’t a matter of the subject’s complexity, but its counterpart’s competence. Just saying. <<

that's what sugarhigh said, announcing the exhibition:
MALE NUDES - FEMALE DESIRES at Galerie Tanja Wagner, Berlin
which I visited yesterday.

I'm sharing with you images of artist Lina Sheynius. Because I found her work was stunningly natural and direct and incredibly sexy. Representing an authentic 'female gaze' & sexualizing her (ex)boyfriends body in one of the most sensual+explicit ways I could imagine.

The other featured artists Jen Davis, Nina Hoffmann and Paula Winkler are reflecting different aspects of female sexuality with a less immediately intimate but more intellectual approach, touching the issues of male body ideals, self-staging, 'online-lust' and others. Absolutely worth visiting.

Chemistry worldview.

I have to learn a huge load of chemistry these days, which includes learning about the structure and reactions of salt. The daily table-salt 'NaCl' is one that appears rather often in my life, as it also does in the books. I know by now, how the atoms/ions connect to each other, that they form a specific, regular cristall-structure and how they dissolve in a polar solvent like water. I like learning this stuff. Signe Emma's images even give it an aesthetic value, a beautiful touch.
Thank you for that.
(you should really check her site, as the story to these images gives them another dimension more. and she has other funky stuff to offer too!)

I fucking love my kaleidoscope!

Lights shine into my face, --- kaleidoscope colors turn into your face
you're not here, into my haze --- kaleidoscope colors turn into your face
Und plötzlich alles lilablau --- Tiefenrausch
Dem Fiebertraum wieder gegenüberschau'n - zielgenau
Stroboskope: Blitze zeichnen alles kilometerweit-nah, dichter Nebel greifbar,

Lights shine into my face, --- kaleidoscope colors turn into your face
you're not here, into my haze --- kaleidoscope colors turn into your face

Lights shine into my face, --- kaleidoscope colors turn into your face
you're not here, into my haze --- kaleidoscope colors turn into your face

wonderfly.

My dad always told us kids, that when he and my mom first dated, they had a walk on the seaside and met >>us<< - in form of 4 wonderful little fireflies.

windows framed.

The windows of the Istanbul Modern (Museum) seemed to me like pictures hung to the wall themselves. From outside they were mirrors, that's why you can see me in the last pic. The images perfectly transport the dusty, sunny view on Istanbul and the Bosphorus that I am missing at the moment...

Homestory approach.

These images do not (yet) have much to do with our home - it is still a chaos we're trying to fight. But I promise some insight soon.

The image above I found on "Old Chum" (about wich I blogged here before) which is one of my absolute favourite blogs. It is not an interior-design blog, the most inspiring stuff I find there is kind of abstract, in the sense of not directly applicable for my flat. The succulent above is, and as soon as I can turn my focus to things like plants I will definitely start a small succulent-garden. Until then there are for example the floors that need all our attention. We emptied the kitchen yesterday (and chased out the mouse that apparently lived behind the counters), ripped off the ugly PVC-flooring, scrubbed the floor (smelled like mouse-pee) and then sanded the old lack-finish so that today the new finish can follow. It will not be moss like in the pic below it will be fresh shiny white lack.

The image above is also via Old Chum, it is a print by Andrew Moore. It was taken in Detroit, where the most charming derelict buildings of the world seem to be (search google images: 'detroit derelict').
Below: the M3 chair by Thomas Feichtner. Which is a new object of crazy desire :) I found it via Love the triangle, the blog of my dear friend Josephine.

light.

photos 1+3 by Polina Aronova, 2 by Gia Coppola

For a long time already I wanted to post about araks lingerie. Now I do and I am glad they have sooo beautiful images in their lookbooks (autumn above, spring below).

awakenedaesthetic said - and I take the freedom to just agree - "I don’t think these designs should even be called panties, or bras. Bra: what kind of butchered half-word is that? I think they should be called underpinnings. Something a bit more dignified, classier. A nod to a more elegant world."

Foxy & Swan & Wisent

These images (especially the fox) by Stefano Unterthiner remind me of the long silent walks I took in the forest near our house when I was young.

I had read the book "Försters Katja" (which would translate as something like: Forest Ranger's Daughter Katja) by Ilse Kitzinger and Katja went deerstalking in the book, which inspired me to do the same. I remember how I was overwhelmed how much is to discover and observe when you just walk alone, silent and calm with your eyes open for what is going on around you, how close you can come to the animals. I guess it was one of those "nature-experiences" that still impress and mould me today.

The book is from 1968 already, my mother read it when she was a young girl and I loved to get all her old books out of the cellar and devoured them! And I will definitely keep them!

Paradise left.

I posted about (the exhibition) "Paradise Lost" before. Peter Bialobrzeski (who is not featured in said exhibition) takes a slightly different approach - his series "Paradise Now" shows us the nature left between glass and steel and concrete in our big cities. He captures and creates a surreal image of this left-over nature by long exposure times.

I found the one above in a magazine (chrismon) nearly A3 sized and must say that it looks much better that big than in the mini version here on my blog. I'd love to have it original sized (126 x 160 cm)...

Bedside.

The Forest by Leonard C. Mayer

The trees stand tall and stately,
surveying their domain --
The first to glimpse the sunrise;
the first to feel the rain.

(find more than just the first stencer of this poem: here
+ the image is - as far as I remember - cut out from XOXOtheMag (where I also found the wonder machine before) and hangs at my bedside. I love how the flash of my camera adds "sunlight breaking through the branches", haha)
